Questions

Who would you say is the most influential designer or architect in your career?
When I was a little girl, my dad drove me around to look at beautiful, historic homes in Cherry Creek and downtown Denver. It was those drives that brought me to love historical buildings and inspired me to pursue a degree in interior design. College introduced me to the modern ideas and designs of Florence Knoll and Eero Saarinen—two of my favorite designers. Both have hugely inspired the commercial and hospitality design work that has been the main focus of my career.

What is your favorite piece of furniture?
Ever since I was in design school, I have dreamed of owning a Jacobsen Egg chair. I don’t own one yet, but check back with me in a little while—perhaps by then I will!

What is the most fun you have had in this industry?
In 2003, I won my first ASID Colorado Design award—first place for a recording studio I designed. I hadn’t been out of school for very long at that point and it was so exciting to know that I was getting to design, just like I had always hoped. Not to mention that I was actually getting recognized for it!

What is your favorite indulgence?
Soy chai lattes—I drink them almost daily!

What is something you cannot live without?
My fabulous husband, Luc, my wonderful and supportive parents, and the great outdoors.

What CD is in your car right now?
My new Smart Car has an MP3 adaptor, so I love listening to mixes on my iPod that include artists like Imogene Heap, Gabriel & Dresden and Brazilian Girls.
